Integration Philosophy
Spark’s integration philosophy
Invisible Infrastructure
Most Layer 2 solutions explicitly present themselves as new “networks” that users must understand and actively select between. This creates unnecessary complexity - users shouldn’t need to think about switching between networks or understand the differences between Layer 1 and Layer 2. This approach invariably leads to confusion, mistakes, and poor user experience.
Our Approach
Spark takes the opposite approach: the best infrastructure is invisible. Just as email users simply “send mail” without knowing about SMTP or IMAP protocols, Bitcoin users should just “send Bitcoin” without needing to understand the underlying technology that makes it fast and affordable.
We don’t want Spark to be a Layer 2 that needs to be bootstrapped, rather it should build off of existing Bitcoin network effects.
User Experience
This means:
- No network switchers
- No bridge interfaces
- No new mental models to learn
Users interact with Bitcoin as they always have, while Spark works silently in the background to ensure optimal performance.
